Our School

Fulton Montessori School is a small non-profit Montessori preschool program. As a result, we have a diverse community of Board of Directors, donors, staff, and families that support our mission to strengthen children through Montessori education in Richmond's East End.

Fulton Montessori School supports and encourages a high-quality learning experience through the use of the Montessori Method.  The classroom is set up to provide the children with an age appropriate learning environment.  Children will be encouraged to explore, to ask questions, and to learn to live peacefully with peers.

We understand that working parents need affordable, full-day care for their children that is within walking distance to their homes and bus stops. At FMS, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality education to give children the tools they need for the future.

Children’s House/Preschool Classrooms

We have capacity for two Children’s House environments for Pre-K students. Children’s House (Primary) is for students ages 3 to 5 years old. These Children’s Houses provide dynamic, hands-on education guided by a caring, Montessori-trained teacher.

Bi-annual parent-teacher conferences help you understand your child’s individual learning process and gives you the chance to ask questions about their strengths, challenges, and successes.

Montessori teachers are called “Guides” because they observe each child’s individual learning styles, interests, and shape the curriculum to meet, match, and challenge the child. While not every child and family is a perfect match for this independent style of learning, those who are often develop a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Studies are showing what we know is true - Montessori kids are problem-solvers with real social skills and have the capacity to show empathy and compassion for others.
